About Canada

With roughly 3,854,085 sq miles area, Canada is located in the northern part of North America. It has the world's most picturesque and exotic landscapes and is commonly known as a peaceful and friendly country. Rich natural resources, forests and vast topography of the land make Canada the second largest country in the world.

Canada shares its border from the south with the United States state of Alaska, and has Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic oceans at its shores on the rest three sides. The nation has a good number of natural water resources and most of its population resides around lakes. The population density is 9.1 inhabitants per square miles, which is among the lowest in the world.

Since Canada has United States as its neighbour, many think of it as an English-speaking country, though reality it is legitimately declared bilingual with French and English being the official languages. There are many distinctions like these that make Canada a very interesting country with a vibrant culture.

Canada as a tourist destination is admired worldwide. The breadth taking beauty offers ample ways to tourists to indulge in recreational activities such as mountaineering, biking, sightseeing, visits to museums, rock climbing, water sports and off course shopping. Canada is also listed among few of those wealthy nations which have high federal reserves and lower unemployment rates. Toronto, the financial capital of Canada, is home to the longest street in the world - The Yonge Street. It also has the CN tower, which is 1815 foot tall and is known to be the tallest free standing structure in the world.

Weather is Canada varies across states and winters can sometimes be harsh at few places with temperature ranging from -5 °C to -40 °C. Many non coastal regions remain snow covered for almost six months of the year. Summers are relatively pleasant and temperature revolves around 25 íC. It is during summers; Canadians celebrate life through festivals and enjoy the freshness of air. This good cheer spreads across all the provinces and every state advertises its own uniqueness to involve people to have a memorable time. The Fringe Festival, most prominent of all, symbolizes the free spirit of Canada. It is a place to perform and be appreciated with events that include comedy shows, dance programs, musicals, drama, theatre and much more. Audience are given festival guides to decide about the programs they are interested in watching from literally hundreds of shows. Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria and Ottawa are the regular organisers of the Fringe Festival.
